This is a 1/48 scale model fo Skylab, America's first manned space station.
Launched in May of 1973, the real Skylab sustained damage during its ascent into orbit.
It's first crew, astronauts Conrad, Weitz and Kerwin, installed a parasol through a camera airlock in order to shade the workshop section of the lab from the extreme heat of the sun.
The original sunshade was torn off when it deployed accidently during lift-off.
This model is exquisite in detail, and features soldered brass framework and solar panel assemblies, a very highly detailed Apollo Telescope Mount, extensive surface detailing, detachable parasol, Apollo spacecraft and a dark walnut base with nameplate.
This model is available in 3 scales: 1/48 (36" L), 1/100 (18" L), 1/144 (11"L)
