The Apollo Page
May 25, 1961, and President John F. Kennedy called for America to do
something men have only dreamed about... putting a man on the moon and
returning him safely to the Earth.
He later would say in a speech at Rice University, "not because it is easy,
but because it is hard". He added the goal of landing a man on the moon would benefit America and
bring the nation together in acheiving mankind's life-long dream of being
able to walk on another world.
The technological and economic benefits would be astounding, as many new
advances and inventions would be realized during the development of the
Apollo Program.
40 years ago this summer, in July of 1969, man was on his way for a walk on
the moon.
For the first time in human history a crew of 2 touched down on the lunar
surface and began a series of visits to our nearest neighbor in space.
To celebrate this enormous feat we've created this Apollo Page, where you
can purchase exquisite, hand-crafted scale replicas of Apollo-era spacecraft
commemorating America's journeies to the moon from 1968 through 1972.
Each model is hand-crafted
and is a fitting salute to the time when man
finally slipped the surely bonds of Earth to walk on another world... our own
Moon.
Stop by the H.R. MacMillan Space Center in Vancouver, BC, to see a Nick Proach Models display giving salute to the 40th Anniversary of Apollo 11 and Manned Space Flight. Display opens July 20.
