Alan Bean Me and Surveyor III
The second lunar landing for the United States was virtually a pinpoint landing. Astronauts Pete Conrad and Alan Bean in their lunar module Intrepid landed approximately 600 feet from Surveyor III, which landed on the moon in April of 1967. During the second of two moonwalks Pete and Alan walked over to Surveyor to remove some parts to bring back to Earth. This depiction, modeled in 1/32 scale, shows Alan getting ready to check out Surveyor’s camera and scoop assembly. Only one of these models has been produced and signed by Apollo 12 astronaut Alan Bean. Model is extremely unique and rare, built from brass, silver soldered and micro-welded. Flight emblem of Apollo 12 on the base with the inscription “Me and Surveyor III – Alan Bean, Apollo 12” at the front of the base which was signed personally by Alan Bean.
