Tom Stafford & Friends with Saturn V
Model Descrption
Featured here in this photo is Nick Proach, Ron Shinkle, owner of ‘Saturn V #3′, and Apollo 10 Commander Tom Stafford at a National Space Society trade show in Houston in May of 1999.
Saturn V #3 is the third 1/48 scale S-V built by Proach Models. One feature of this show was the 30th anniversary celebration of the Apollo 10 flight in May of 1969. The dress rehearsal flight took Stafford and Lunar Module Pilot Gene Cernan within 50,000 feet of the lunar surface in a practice-run for the Apollo 11 mission -the first landing on the moon – the following July.
