Bell X-1 Glamorous Glennis
This Bell X-1 model is a nicely detailed replica of "Glamorous Glennis," the aircraft that broke the sound barrier for the first time back in October of 1947, marking one of the most historic milestones of flight. U.S. Air Force pilot Captain Charles "Chuck" Yeager flew the X-1 at speeds of 700 miles per hour and reached Mach 1.06 at an altitude of 43,000 feet. He named the rocket-engine-powered aircraft after his wife.
