Here’s a great video showing a high altitude drop test for the SpaceX Dragon spacecraft back in August 2010. An Erickson S-64 Air-Crane dropped the spacecraft from 14,000 feet to confirm that the parachute deployment systems were working properly.
It’s amazing to see the parachutes balloon out and to imagine how big they must be in real life. And the music is so inspiring!
Are you a fan of the Dragon spacecraft? We’re currently taking pre-orders for a very detailed model in 1/48 scale and are working with SpaceX to develop the prototype and master parts before we put it into production. This insures you will receive a very accurate and detailed desktop replica.
