Not long after President Kennedy called for Americans to walk on the Moon before the end of the 1960's, the United States put John Glenn into Earth orbit on February 20, 1962.
This 1/48 scale model of the Mercury Atlas is a fitting tribute to this historic event. 
Hand-crafted by Nick Proach himself, the model stands over 2 feet tall and includes a very detailed Mercury spacecraft complete with all the shingle detailing, along with a full 3D printed escape tower, engines, corrugated lower stage, conduits, fuel line, and a black lacquered display base with the no-see mounting system which Proach Models is famous for.
