The Apollo Mission That Started It All

It's hard to believe it was 54 years ago this weekend that Apollo 15 astronauts David Scott and Jim Irwin were exploring the lunar surface at Hadley Rille.

I was fortunate to have been involved in the news coverage of that mission by supplying the CTV network with a model of the Apollo 15 landing site with the Lunar Module, Rover and all the experiments used on that mission, all in 1/48 scale.

Although this was not the same model used at the time, it was very similar in size, scale and content minus the LM to the one shown here.

Each of the experiments, including the Rover, were crafted by hand on the actual model used at the time, and as there was no internet available at the time for public use, research was done using official NASA press documents supplied by CTV, which I still have in my library today.
